Detailed Instructions For Installation And Setup Of Ircle (For Mac)
| General - General |
1) Once you’ve opened up Ircle you will see three main windows: Inputline, Userlist and Connections...start with Connections.
2) The connections window lists 10 servers for possible activation. Select a server that you do not currently use for IRC chat, then click the EDIT button.
3) When the Connection Preferences window opens up the top three tabs read: Identity, Autoexec, and Misc./CTCP. For the moment we are only concerned with the contents of the Identity tab which should be selected by default.
4) Click the “Select...” button located next to the text reading Server.
5) Now you see a list of cool and popular IRC servers...which does not include SierraNet. Click the “Add” button.
6) In the server field, type: irc.sierranet.org
7) The port should be designated 6667 by default, so leave it alone.
8) For network click on the menu and scroll all the way to the bottom until you see the option: Standalone servers. Select it.
9) Click OK and you’re back in the “Add Server” menu with your newly created settings highlighted. Click the SELECT button.
10) Now you’re back in the Connections Preferences window. The text next to “Server” should now read: irc.sierranet.org
11) Fill in your Nickname, Username (these can usually be the same) and Real Name (if you want to include it). Once you’re done with that, click OK.
12) One of the 10 servers that you’ve chosen to edit in the Connections window should now display your newly chosen username, followed by irc.sierranet.org. Select this server and click on the CONNECT button.
13) Ircle logs on to SierraNet.
14) Type in the Inputline (without quotes): “/join #comicality”
15) That’s it! Now you can rub elbows over the internet!
