The CHAT SHACK

Install mIRC from: www.mirc.com/ - you can use all the default settings for the installation. Once it's installed, start it up.

If it does not initially bring you to the "mIRC Options" server selection dialog box, click "File" >> "Select Server". Click the "Add" button in the popup window.

For "desription" type "irc.sierranet.org" (without quotes).

In "IRC Server" type "irc.sierranet.org" (again without quotes). Port is 6667. Click "Add". Check list to make sure irc.sierranet.org has been added.

On the left, under "Category" choose "Connect" (it'll be above "Servers", where you should already be).

Enter in a name/email address (this can be your real name if you choose, or your online name/pseudonym) and enter both a Nickname and Alternative - the nickname is what others will see you as in the chat, and alternative will be a second name mIRC will try to use if the first is taken.

You should not need to change any of the other default settings (though if you know enough about the program and wish to change some of them, feel free to do so. Click "Connect To Server".

It'll scroll through a bunch of text as it logs into the chat server, just let that go, when it's done,
simply type "/join #comicality" in the box at the bottom and hit enter. It will open a new window
within mIRC to the chat room, and you should see all the rest of us there :)
