#Comicality Chat Information And Links

The Comicality Chat is an around-the-clock channel on IRC where we can go to meet and get better aquainted with our fellow Shackers, and maybe become more to each other than just names on a forum board. We can't promise that chatters will be available 24/7, but through trial and error (and a little patience) there is a good chance you'll find others whose availability coincides with yours. Though our peak hours are usually around 9 PM to about 1 AM Eastern (USA) Time (2 AM to 6 AM Greenwich Mean (UK) time), there are usually some friends from around the world who are available at other times, also. So come join our Chat Shack family!  You're already one of our own, and we'd love to get to know you better!

Here is the IRC info you will need to join us:

Server name: irc.sierranet.org

Channel name: #Comicality

If you have never used IRC before or are fairly new to it you will find detailed instructions for obtaining and setting up some of the more popular IRC clients listed below.  You may also join us via these direct links:

There are many available programs (also known as "clients") for access to IRC.  Many are easy to set up and offer more features and access to IRC services than the links.  Below, we have listed some of the more well-known and widely used clients along with detailed directions for installation and setup.

Detailed Instructions for Installation and/or Setup of the Latest Versions of These Popular IRC Clients:

Icechat

mIRC

Trillian

IRCle(for Mac)

Colloquy(for Mac)

We also have available an mIRC version that is pre-set to connect to our server and chatroom.  All you have to do is download, install, check the "Launch" box at the end of the installation, and you'll be connected directly to our chat. It is available through the following link:

Registration Of Nicknames Through Nickserv

Although it is not mandatory, it is a good idea to register your IRC nickname through Nickserv. It's quick and easy and it prevents anyone on that particular server network from stealing it from you. It also enables you to use other service features of IRC, such as memoserv and chanserv.

All you have to do is type the following in the edit box (where you type to chat) while signed on to IRC with the nick of your choice:

/msg nickserv register password e-mail

"password" being one of your choosing and of course your e-mail address, and press your "enter" key. A NickServ Window will then become available telling you what to do from there. Be sure to remember your password because you will need it to identify yourself to NickServ in order to be recognized as the owner of the nick (and remember, passwords are CASE SENSITIVE!). To Identify you type in:

/msg nickserv identify password

or better yet type the command into your client's Autoperform feature to do it for you automatically every time you sign on. And that's all there is to it!

If there are any questions or problems please feel free to e-mail me at
